Interview of Mr. Martin
I talked to Mr. Martin who was one of my former football coaches during my time at the high school. I asked him what some of the different reasons for players being suspended from games. He said the main reasons were drinking, tobacco, drugs, and other legal issues such as vandalism and theft. The punishments varied depending on if it was a first time offense or if it had happened before. Another weird situation that occurred was when a student got into a car crash and had killed somebody. This was half way through the football season and there was an ongoing police report to find out what had actually happened. The player was not suspended or kicked off the team until legal action was taken based upon what had happened, so he played. Coach Datka said that during those tough times that he was going through he needed his football family to help him along.
