Interview with Guidance office (Mr.Benz & Nan)
I interviewed Mr.Benz in the guidance office and the social worker Nan
Just becasue a kid violates the code at the school doesnt mean they are expelled. The guidance office is only invlved as much as needed by the school or the parents of the student. They are only involved if needed. The guidance office in particular is involved more in academic problems of an individual than the social problems or athletic problems. Guidanc is also involved in Pre-expulsion hearings.
With A.O.D.A violations the guidance office is only involved case to case. They don't necessarily talk to kids.
The social worker is more involved. If violation is happening kids are referrred to her. she provides support and acts as a sort of third party affect. She has the ability to help a kid by providing support or finding ways to treat the problem like therapy or group sessions.
Athletic violations have no relations to school. If you violate the code it can't be held against you in school. Its a priviledge to be in an activity so the punishment will come shifter and can be more severe and can result in termination form activity.
In school everyone has an equal oppurtunity to be in a safe and productive environment at school. If this environment is disrupted the social worker or the guidance office will get invoved.
In Mr.Benz's opinion if the violation isn't related to school punishment is not needed.
